Joachim Herz Foundation Fellowship: Supporting Early-Career Researchers in Interdisciplinary Projects

-

The Joachim Herz Foundation is offering financial support for up to 80 scientists from the fields of business administration, economics, life sciences, and materials science. If you are working on interdisciplinary research in the area of “Resources of the Future” and are motivated to advance the transfer potential of your work, this fellowship may be the opportunity you're looking for.

Who Can Apply?

The fellowship is targeted at early-career researchers, including doctoral students, postdocs, and junior professors, who are engaged in interdisciplinary research with social relevance. The foundation is particularly interested in projects related to the “Resources of the Future” theme, which can vary depending on the discipline. The key criterion is that the research demonstrates transfer potential, even if concrete transfer goals are still under development.

Applicants must be employed at a university or non-profit research institution in Germany, or their research must otherwise be funded by such institutions at the time of the application.

Funding Details

Successful applicants will receive funding of up to €15,000 for a period of two years. This support can be used flexibly, for instance:

  • Travel costs and participation fees for research stays, conferences, and further training
  • Acquisition of special aids, such as hardware or software
  • Data collection or acquisition
  • Activities aimed at developing the transfer potential of the research
  • Organizing scientific conferences or participating in science communication initiatives

Additionally, fellows can apply for extra funding of up to €3,000 to support equal opportunities. This funding can help balance work and family life, such as expenses for childcare or caring for relatives.

Application Details

Applications are open from March 17 to May 16, 2025. For more information, please visit the official page: Joachim Herz Foundation Fellowship.

This fellowship offers an excellent chance to not only advance your research but also to develop its societal impact through increased transfer potential. If you are working on relevant interdisciplinary projects, we encourage you to apply and take advantage of this valuable opportunity.
